Thanks Nev. Can't wait to hear about Dubai and India. That must have been an awesome trip.

In this case, I think we'd rather just kill it. We've got some really good stuff in the pipeline, both for DI and for new projects, so it's probably not worth the effort for the few grand we'd fetch for it. Plus the back end is rather rough around the edges so I wouldn't want to try to teach that to someone else...and it would probably be a pain to ship our remaining inventory to the buyer.

In a way, we're "selling it" by just blowing out the inventory. Since we're not re-ordering those products that money is all cash that we can put towards something else.

Awesome post (just got back from Dubai and India btw, so no comments lately)!

You know I secretly always compared TD to my BodyMonkey.com business I started as a "kind of" HouseOfRave.com spin-off.

I remember documenting how I wanted to start it...then a while later talked about how I was going to kill it:
http://www.nevblog.com/labels/Body%20Monkey.html

However did you ever think about selling it? It probably wouldn't hurt to stick it on Flippa for a few days to see the interest.

Although killing the whole thing sometimes makes more sense. Selling the biz is generally chump change in the long run compared with focusing expressly on DI. Even my experience with selling BodyMonkey just took way too damn long.

Can't wait to see how you further grow DI!

Thanks for all of the support guys! While it is definitely disappointing to give up on, it's also liberating to have some more time free to work on other stuff...plus any customer service I can get rid of is a good thing :)

If every project were to succeed everyone would be a successful entrepreneur, speed bumps weed out the week - the strong power over them! I've learned more about business and myself from my failures(it seems so unfair to call them that when you look back) then I did when things were chugging along without incident. You guys never jump into things blindly, for some reason this just didn't stick.

Being an entrepreneur is much like riding a bicycle, it's scary and tough to let go of those training wheels, you'll undoubtedly fall learning. Though when mastered you can go further then ever before, explore new things and areas, but you always run the risk of falling off and getting hurt, no matter how good of a rider you are. In extreme cases a car can come out of no where and hit you, and the best protection won't save you and you'll wonder for the rest of your life if it was your fault. You guys have just stopped peddling up a giant hill, we've all done that before.
